Picking back where I left off...
Patrya gets the seventh chapter - On pins and needles for a day, Patrya is visited by Hyn at two-ish in the morning. He faithfully escorts her down to a Chymean harbor and away from any possible spies. There, Patrya meets Millis, and the three characters discuss the aspects of championship and armies, motives, rewards, histories, etc. etc. etc.
During the whole chapter, Patrya falls "irrevocably and unequivocally" in love with Hyn who agrees to be her champion.
DISCLAIMER:
Yeah, yeah, I know a lot of you who have seen my attempts at romance before are holding your noses at this point and making your ways to the nearest toilet.
Teeheehee, this is better; I promise.
In addition, this romance has a reason beyond base desire; there is true commitment and sacrifice...but I'll leave that for the story... :)
Millis gets the eighth chapter - Hyn fights a Chymean champion. I have yet to really envision this scene in my mind, so any epic duel phrases are welcome. *hint hint nudge nudge headnod headnod*
Basically, Hyn is incapable of defeating the Chymean champion, and yes, he dies.
And yes, it is an awesome death. *wails*
Of course, Millis, unable to see his friend die, goes into a berserk mode (gained by genetic alterations) called "Ragering" and kills Emperor Jeon and a handful of other guards. Dun, dun, duuuh!
Pleibea gets the ninth chapter - We last left her on strike, arrested, nearly killed, but rescued by Syne (who by this time, is clearly the bad guy). When Syne essentially dumps all the slaves back at their slave camps and announces on television that his actions were made to eliminate the threat of civil war, the slaves, led by Pleibea and a few others, go wild with rage. For a second there, they thought they were truly liberated.
Instead, Syne claims himself as Consil, and things go on "as normal." (In case if you haven't been keeping up in this chaotic mess of an outline, Syne is Consil, one Consilship is open, Syne's father is Dibane, and Myreap's father is Dibane.)
But normal isn't quite so...normal. Pleibea is done; she's sick of captivity.
She starts her own miniature rebellion, and off the bat, she's successful.
Patrya gets the tenth chapter - Back in Chymea, Patrya explains that Jeon's successor had imprisoned both her and Millis; she could get no word of what was to be done with them, but at that point in the story, she really doesn't care about anything but the fact that *wails again* Hyn is dead.
A few paragraphs (or is it pages?) after her emotion, Syne visits.
Huh???
What's HE doing there? That's the question on Patrya's mind too. Turns out he wants to *collective gasp* marry her! For a man in his late twenties talking to a teenage girl, he's quite convincing too. He says he wants her hand in marriage and offers her the remaining Consilship as well. Patrya, mentally agile as ever, pulls his bluff, revealing the fact that he only plans to eliminate Myreap's father (who is Dibane) once he is married, leaving Patrya (under him) as Consil, him (under him) as Consil, and his father (also sort of under him as Dibane).
He says too bad, so sad, she'll marry him anyway.
Write on!

'Irrevocably and unequivocally'...teehee, I see what you did there...
