Is "alright" all right?

As time progresses and new books are published, I've come to see a profusion of the word "alright".  While even though "all right" is the proper form, some teachers make no distinction between the words "alright" and "all right".  Many have come to just write "alright" since it's faster.
Our language evolves, and with so many people using "alright", I have to wonder if it's...well...all right to use "alright".

Do you prefer "alright" or "all right"?
Write on!
